Spring and Summer Skincare Tips for Men

Nov 30th, 2018

Here is how to make a few small adjustments that will give you big results.

Springtime is here, and you can’t help feeling a little happier and more confident. Before you start taking long walks in the park and enjoying the sunshine, though, you need to learn how to take care of your skin. The change in climate and the change in temperatures can leave your skin vulnerable to damage. Who knew this week that we would have sunshine, rain and snow!

With a few simple tips and the right products at your disposal, you can make your skin look great throughout the spring season.

Streamline your routine

Most men have time poor busy lives, we usually don’t have more than 10 minutes to groom before heading to work or the gym.  If you do nothing else then cleanse, cleansing morning and night (and after the gym) is the single most important thing you can do for your face – Offects Hydrating Cleanser by ZO Skin Health is the perfect solution as hydrates and rejuvenates without disrupting the moisture barrier. Using pathejnol and allantoin to sooth, repair and restore skin, it cleans away dead skin cells and supports cellular renewal.

We have already talked about the variations in male and female skin that begin deep down in the structure of the skin’s fat layer and dermis. Men have thicker skin because of the dominant male hormone testosterone making it up to 20% oilier.  Do you need a tougher skincare product – probably!

We also recommend that you exfoliate at least once a week and up your moisture game with Offects Exfoliating Cleanser by ZO Skin health, which is great for added hydration and is the perfect product to take with you in your travel or gym bag.

Spring clean your skin

The best and most simple way to do that is to use the Stimulator Peel by ZO Skin health. It’s a revolutionary, peel for smoother, brighter skin with no downtime.

Protect Against the Sun

Want to look older fast?  Of course you don’t! You might already know that prolonged sun exposure can damage your skin, but you might not know that the sun can affect your skin no matter how much time you spend outside. Even driving to work, walking to the shops or playing sports outside expose your skin to those harsh rays.

Make sure that you apply a thin layer of sunscreen to your skin each day and more regularly in the summer months. Eclipse Sunscreen + Primer Broad -Spectrum SPF 30 with natural melanin, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide is a moisturizing sunscreen that won’t leave your skin feeling greasy. And remember, just because the sun is not shining does not mean that the harmful UV rays are not making their ageing mark your skin.

Don’t Ignore Your Scalp. The crown of your head and temples get more UV exposure than your cheeks, making them far more likely to burn.

Use Masks and Vitamins

Dry skin is a major winter problem, and it’s just as bad in the spring. A simple collagen hydrating mask can help you fight back, leaving you with healthy and properly hydrated skin. Make sure that you drink plenty of water and take vitamins, too. The water hydrates your skin, while the vitamins improve elasticity, giving you skin that you’ll want to show off this spring.

In fact, many men aren’t getting enough water. Remember that old adage about eight glasses a day? Well, it turns out you need more that. Turns out that this only applies to the ‘average’ man so a word to the wise to all the men I know – make that 10 glasses a day.
