Is tear trough filler right for me?
During a consultation, Dr Yiannis will speak to you about your concerns and do a detailed assessment of your face. You might be an ideal candidate for tear trough filler if you:
- Have dark/hollow under-eyes
- Have mild to moderate sagging under the eyes
- Have realistic expectations
- Are in generally good health
However, there may be reasons why this treatment might not be suitable. If you have excess skin beneath the eyes, your tear troughs are very deep, or you have excess fat under your eyes then this may require surgery from a qualified plastic surgeon.
What’s a dermal filler?
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth fine lines and wrinkles and enhance facial contours. The most commonly used dermal fillers contain Hyaluronic Acid (HA) as the main ingredient. One of the main benefits of HA fillers is that because it is naturally produced by the body, you’re less likely to have an allergic reaction. They can also be dissolved by a special solution if needed.
What happens during a Tear Trough treatment?
Dr Yiannis will make the treatment comfortable by numbing the tear trough area with a topical anaesthetic. He will then inject the area with a dermal filler called Teosyal Redensity II as it is the only licensed product for the delicate tear trough area. Once the product is injected, it works by boosting collagen production and replacing any lost volume brought about through the ageing process. It also hydrates, softens, and rejuvenates the skin, creating a more youthful appearance.
It’s important to know that this area of the face should only be treated by an advanced aesthetic practitioner who’s had specific and extensive training in treating the tear trough. It’s the most delicate part of the face and requires precision and technique to achieve first-class results.
