Men, just like women are concerned with issues like ageing, pigmentation, sensitivity, and acne, they always have been, but skin damage from your shave routine or the sun can’t be fixed with the soap and water you need targeted products to help protect and restore the balance of oils. And with the trend of more Men shunning the razor and embracing the facial hair, then cleansing your beard and skin properly is a must, (A grubby beard is NOT attractive). The biggest difference between male and female skin is due to the male sex hormones known collectively as androgens. The biggest being testosterone.  When men start to climb towards middle age, their testosterone levels steadily decline which can account for the changes in their skin and hair.

Skin thickness: Is approximately 25 percent thicker in men than women. We love pHformula SOS cream – This is really good for those who have sensitive skin but is also very good for men who are active outdoors with sports or work.  It contains Glycofilm and HA so it creates a protective barrier to retain moisture and protect against the elements.  Or you can try a super charger which are great post workout like VITA A,B3 and/or C.  These are highly concentrated creams which are light non greasy.

Collagen Density: Due to the thickness of men’s skin they have a higher ratio of collagen than women. Which in some camps is why some people believe women age quicker than men. Texture: From a superficial standpoint men’s skin is different to women’s due to the thicker Stratum Corneum (top layer). Also men produce more sebum (oil) which can also account for men getting acne more than women. This is why we recommend a great face and body cleanse twice a day and especially after a workout.

You don’t need to think spa days, fluffy slippers and robes that are too small for the average man when we say facials.  You just need to think of professional facials and beauty treatments as an investment in the preservation of a more youthful you.  Over the last 10 years it has been slowly becoming more acceptable for Men to talk about anti-ageing and skincare.
