Since the early 2000s, Botox has been the biggest buzzword in the world of aesthetic medicine. What most people don’t realise is that Botox is just one brand of anti-wrinkle injections – medically known as neuromodulators. These treatments use purified botulinum toxin type A to temporarily block the nerve signals that trigger muscle contraction. This enables anti-wrinkle injections to smooth out lines and wrinkles caused by facial movement.

However, just because the fundamentals of how anti-wrinkle injections work haven’t changed, doesn’t mean that incredible advancements aren’t still being made today.

We're entering a new era in neuromodulation

One of the most exciting advances in anti-wrinkle treatments this year is Relfydess™ – a new neuromodulator that redefines what patients and practitioners can expect from wrinkle treatments. It’s bringing a faster onset, longer-lasting results, and a level of precision never seen before.

As someone who’s been treating patients for many years, I can genuinely say this launch feels special. Relfydess has been over 15 years in development, and it shows – every detail, from its purity to its performance, reflects the depth of research behind it. It’s a product that’s truly been worth the wait, and I couldn’t be more excited to finally bring it to my patients.

At the Anti Wrinkle Clinic, we’re proud to be among the first clinics in the UK to introduce this breakthrough product – and here’s everything you need to know about why Relfydess is making waves across the aesthetics world.

What is Relfydess?

Relfydess is a ready-to-use botulinum toxin type A developed by Galderma, the company behind Azzalure® and Alluzience®. Like other botulinum-based neuromodulators, it is produced by Clostridium botulinum – a naturally occurring bacterium found in the environment – whose purified protein is used in medicine to safely and precisely relax targeted muscles. It is indicated for improving moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet in adults under 65, when these lines have a noticeable psychological impact [1].

What makes Relfydess different?

  1. PEARL™ purity technology

Galderma’s PEARL Technology marks a real breakthrough in neuromodulator science. Relfydess is made using only what’s needed – the active neurotoxin molecule – and is entirely free from complexing proteins, lactose, or any human- or animal-derived components. This high-purity formulation not only makes it suitable for those who are vegan or lactose-intolerant, but also ensures exceptional stability and consistency.

In practical terms, this means a lower risk of immune response or antibody formation over time, along with reliable, predictable results from one treatment to the next [3].

  1. Rapid onset and long duration

In clinical studies, up to 39% of patients noticed visible results as early as day 1, with the median onset at 2–3 days. Results last around six months, with up to 75% of patients maintaining visible improvements without returning to baseline over that period [2,3].

That means many patients can comfortably maintain their results with just two treatments per year.

  1. Designed for natural expression

At the Anti Wrinkle Clinic, we’re focused on natural-looking results – not frozen faces. In satisfaction surveys, over 90% of patients treated with Relfydess said they looked natural when making facial expressions, and up to 98% said they would recommend the treatment to others [3].

Relfydess aligns perfectly with our ethos, and we’re thrilled to see the world of aesthetic medicine moving in the very direction we’ve always believed in.

  1. Ready-to-use simplicity

Azzalure comes as a freeze-dried powder that needs to be carefully reconstructed with saline before use. Alluzience arrives as a ready-to-use liquid, yet requires precise measurement before injection. Relfydess also comes as a ready-to-use liquid, but with the addition of dedicated dosing syringes for accuracy and consistency. This minimises handling, reduces the risk of contamination, and ensures every treatment is delivered with optimal precision and reliability.

Safety and clinical excellence

Relfydess has undergone extensive phase III clinical evaluation across thousands of treatments worldwide, showing a favourable safety profile comparable to other established neuromodulators [3].

The most commonly reported side effects were mild injection-site reactions and headaches, usually resolving within days. Serious reactions are extremely rare, and all injections should always be performed by qualified medical professionals following proper technique and dosing guidelines.

Recommended doses:

  • Glabellar lines: 50 units (0.5 mL) across 5 injection points
  • Lateral canthal lines: 60 units (0.6 mL) across 6 points
  • Combined treatment: 110 units (1.1 mL) [1,3]

Why patients are excited about Relfydess

Patients today expect more from their aesthetic treatments — results that are fast, natural, and long-lasting with minimal downtime. Relfydess meets them all.

  • Visible improvement may start within 24–48 hours
  • Results last up to six months
  • Natural facial movement is maintained
  • No frozen look — just smoother, refreshed skin

The arrival of Relfydess marks a turning point in how neuromodulators are designed and delivered. For patients considering their first anti-wrinkle treatment – or those who’ve used other neuromodulators before – Relfydess offers an upgraded anti-wrinkle treatment experience. With its clean formulation and streamlined dosing, Relfydess also supports sustainability in clinical practice by reducing product waste and preparation time.

Relfydess FAQ's

Why should I choose Relfydess over the other anti-wrinkle products?

All three of Galderma’s anti-wrinkle injections – Azzalure, Alluzience, and Relfydess – are excellent options, each with its own strengths. Relfydess is their newest product, and the result of more than 15 years of research and development. It is the purest of the three, and because it comes ready to use, there’s no need for any mixing or preparation. This means a more stable formula and highly predictable results every time.

As far as results go, clinical studies show that patients noticed results faster and enjoyed smoother, longer-lasting effects – up to 6 months – compared with previous generations. This means that you could very well maintain your results with just two treatments a year.

In my opinion, Relfydess scores an A+ when it comes to purity, performance, and predictability.

What is the best anti-wrinkle injection for naturally looking results?

If there was one distinct answer here, I wouldn’t stock more than one product. It would be easier if there was a singular, perfect formula – but that’s where the beauty in aesthetic medicine lies. It’s a unique journey for each individual patient.

For longer-lasting results, a higher number of units is usually the answer – but this can sometimes make the outcome appear less natural. Some patients prefer this look, and in my professional option, this can suit certain faces very well.

If longevity isn’t the main concern, I would likely suggest Azzalure. When combining anti-wrinkle injections with another aesthetic treatment, I may recommend Alluzience. If you’re looking for immediate results, perhaps Relfydess is the way to go.

To cut a long answer short, it’s best to discuss your goals and concerns in a one-on-one consultation. From there, I can make an informed, professional decision on the best approach to achieve the results you desire.

Do I need a consultation before treatment?

Yes – every treatment at the Anti Wrinkle Clinic starts with a consultation. This is an important step to make sure the treatment you’re considering is both suitable and safe for you. During your consultation, I’ll take the time to understand your goals, review your medical history, and discuss what’s best for your skin.

Please note that payment doesn’t automatically guarantee a treatment. If anything comes up during your consultation that makes a procedure unsafe or unsuitable, I will explain why and recommend alternative options.

Who performs the anti-wrinkle treatment?

Relfydess treatments are personally performed by Dr Yiannis (that’s me!), a fully qualified medical aesthetic practitioner with over 20 years of experience. My academic and clinical background includes:

  • General Dental Surgeon, University of Siena, Italy
  • Diploma in Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry, University College London (Eastman Dental Institute)
  • Master of Science (MSc) in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry, University of Manchester

That goes for every consultation and treatment at the Anti Wrinkle Clinic. Everything that happens in my clinic, I personally carry out – ensuring consistency, safety, and care from start to finish.

Can Relfydess be used on other areas, like the forehead?

Officially, Relfydess is licensed in the UK for glabellar lines (frown lines) and lateral canthal lines (crow’s feet) ONLY. However, based on your consultation and my clinical discretion, I may suggest using it off-label to treat areas such as the forehead or jawline. Of course, this will require a detailed discussion so that you fully understand the rationale and safety considerations.

Are your treatments regulated?

Yes – all injectable treatments at the Anti Wrinkle Clinic are prescription-only and fully regulated under UK medical guidelines. Treatments are prescribed and administered exclusively by Dr Yiannis, following an in-person consultation to confirm suitability.

Rest assured, we follow strict clinical and hygiene protocols, source products only from licensed UK pharmacies.

Are there any risks or side effects?

All aesthetic treatments carry some degree of risk, but we do everything possible to keep those risks very low. Most patients experience only mild, short-lived effects such as slight redness, swelling, or small bumps at the injection sites, which usually settle within a couple of days.

More significant side effects are rare, but as with any injectable procedure, issues such as bruising, infection, or allergic reaction can occasionally occur.

If you ever have concerns after treatment – especially if you notice severe pain, increasing swelling, or changes in vision – you should contact the clinic immediately on +44 20 3598 7358.

Who should avoid Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections isn’t suitable for everyone. You shouldn’t have treatment if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, have an active skin infection, or have known allergies to any of the ingredients.

If you have certain medical conditions, are taking blood-thinning medication, or have recently had facial procedures or vaccinations, treatment may need to be delayed.

Does Relfydess treatment hurt?

I won’t sugar coat this… Yes – a large portion of patients have relayed to me that Relfydess treatment is noticeably more painful than previous generations of anti-wrinkle injections. It isn’t unbearable, but if you’re particularly sensitive, I can apply a topical numbing cream beforehand.

Tenderness at the injection site usually settles within minutes, and most patients are able to return to normal activities directly after treatment.

What’s the recovery time for Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

There is virtually no downtime for Relfydess treatment. It’s one of my patients’ favourite perks of this innovative product! You can return to most normal activities immediately, although I recommend steering clear of strenuous exercise, alcohol, and facial massages for the first 24 hours.

How should I look after my skin post-treatment?

After your treatment, avoid touching the area, heavy exercise, alcohol, or heat for the first 24–48 hours. Mild redness, swelling, or tiny bumps are normal and usually settle within a few days.

If you notice swelling or tenderness lasting more than five days, lumps that don’t fade, or you experience severe pain, skin discolouration, or any vision changes, contact the clinic immediately on +44 20 3598 7358.

Will I need to come back for a review?

Even though Relfydess has proven highly successful in results and patient satisfaction, I prefer to oversee each of my patient’s journeys personally. So, expect me to check in with you over text or email, and perhaps even ask you to return after two weeks for a review appointment.

If at any point, you feel the urge or need to come in to the clinic – I encourage you to book a review appointment at your convenience.

When should I repeat Anti-Wrinkle Injection treatment?

It’s important to note that every patient is different, and results vary depending on a multitude of factors – including your age, metabolism, lifestyle, and more. I would suggest waiting between 5-6 months before booking your next Relfydess appointment. And as always, if you’re unsure or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
